Greetings !

As I'm sure you already know, HIV/AIDS has taken our local communities by surprise - according  to reported epidemic HIV numbers from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control). What was once seen as a "gay white male"  disease has now crossed over into the  female community. I might add, quietly like a "thief  in the night" - affecting African American and Hispanic women  in disproportionately high numbers. Why is this? Historically, I feel most women do not talk about their sexuality, HIV or sexually transmitted diseases openly. Not during family time, church sessions or girlfriend chats. I hope the recent statistics will facilitate a change in thinking and behavior among us. Additionally, this behavior coupled with a "trusting" heart for a man we love or lust has seemingly put us at a higher risk.

Before forming A Sister's Gift, I noticed an abundance of services for the HIV male. I asked myself,  "Where does an HIV female go to feel comfortable and receive gender-designed counseling services?"  Ending up with few answers, I decided to form "A Sister's Gift".

It has been my personal mission to warn women and high-risk communities about this disease. A Sister's Gift offers hope and empowerment to women on how they can protect themselves and manage the disease. Knowing now, they no  longer have to die an early death. There are new medicine combos that are prolonging an HIV'ers life to the maximum!  However, the first step is to be tested and remember, "No detection or late detection can mean illness and early death."

I hope you find this site to be helpful. in your quest for basic HIV knowledge and awareness. May I suggest you get involved in your local community - by  volunteering your time to an HIV cause or make a donation to an HIV organization of your choice. Might I recommend that organization be A Sister's Gift.

Thank you and God Bless!
